After the Assault of the Star Spawn had come to its bitter end, Theriol finds itself a nation on the brink. Almost a third of the entire population of the Realm was destroyed in the alien assault. The new king, Brogan VIII, has inherited a kingdom facing more challenges than anyone could have foreseen. The war in the North against the dragon armies of Hurthiric continues to rage and with little homeguard left following the alien assault, the few, older veteran knights are being called back into duty. Although there is great sadness, even an overwhelming sorrow that is laid down across this bright country, there is hope too – the aliens were repelled and for now, the process of rebuilding can begin.
